Sunday morning worship is a time for people to stop, reflect, and rejuvenate by focusing on God's provision, grace, and mercy. It is a time to come together and be with one another to encourage, support, and worship together. As we spend time worshipping and remembering God's faithfulness, love and strength we ourselves gain courage and strength and peace to face the new week with whatever challenges come our way. Why? We know God is with us as we go out from this place. We have heard God's word in all of its wisdom, we have a light to show us our way, and a Great Shepherd to lead us.
Worship through song, prayer, traditional and contemporary music, and the reading of God's word are the main stays of each service. In addition we celebrate Holy Communion on a monthly basis. Every service is focused on the understanding God's word and nurturing our relationships with Jesus. Yet while doing so, you may hear a joke, or some light hearted story, perhaps a slideshow. It is certainly always interesting to hear the children's replies to the Pastor's mini children's sermon.
One thing you will notice on a Sunday morning is the variety of people who have come to FBCA. People from a variety of religious backgrounds, people who dress funky, people who dress casual, single individuals, couples, families. Some are 3rd generation members. Some are new to going to church - it is a new experience for them. You do not have to be a Christian to come and be with us at morning worship. You do not have to be dressed in a certain way. If you do not sing like an angel, sing any way. If you have a heavy heart, come. If you have a joyful heart, come. Just come as you are. Connect with us, find purpose, find a joy unimagineable.
During the service you are invited to submit your prayer request with your name or anonymously for the pastor to pray for you during the service. After the service, please visit the prayer room where one of our Deacons is available to talk with you.
Our worship services begin at 10:30 after our fellowship and coffee connection in "Grand Central" - the area located just behind the sanctuary. Services generally run about one hour. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Part way through the service the children are dismissed to Junior Church.
Sunday classes for adults, college/career, youth and children take place from 9:00 - 10:00 during the school year.
Nursery is available all year at FBCA. All are volunteers are CORI checked. Safety and clean, organized, cheerful staff will put you at ease leaving your children in capable hands.
Youth meet during the Sunday School hour and usually on Sunday evenings. Check the Sunday bulletin for a list of events or contact Bob MacKinnon at the church office.
