A Word From the Relay Center Coordinator at First Baptist
Cyndi McNamara is the Relay center coordinator at First Baptist Church in Abington. She is pleased to let you know that First Baptist Abington will once again be a Relay center for Operation Christmas Child.
It will be very helpful if you are able to deliver your boxes early in the week so we can prepare them to be sent to the collection center on Sunday the 24th. Cyndi asks that you let her know if you will be delivering a large number of boxes (over 50) so she can be sure to have sufficient helper's available at the Relay center, thanks so much.
Cyndi is hoping to see many familiar faces from past years and hope there will also be some new faces who will participate in this worthwhile project that brings hope to millions of children around the world.
You may order free supplies such as brochures, posters, DVD's, promotional kits, shoeboxes by calling Samaritan's Purse at 800-353-5949 or visiting their web page.
GO boxes are pre-decorated boxes and are available at First Baptist. Please call the church 781-878-2447 or Cyndi at 781-447-7367 if you wish to make arrangements to obtain GO boxes instead of using your own shoe boxes. A donation of 44 cents per box will be greatly appreciated!!
If you are not familiar with the shoe box project, here is a brief explanation. Shoe boxes are packed with small gifts by individuals, families, small groups such as scout troops, work groups, classrooms, church groups etc. The boxes are then brought to a Relay center (such as First Baptist Abington), next they go to a collection center (such as Mullein Hill Baptist Church in Lakeville) the next stop is the processing center in Boone N. C. then they are shipped all over the world (including the US) where local volunteers deliver the boxes into the hands of deserving children.
Operation Christmas Child is a shoebox-gift project sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization. Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project, brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 100 million shoe box gifts have been delivered to children in more than 130 countries.
Samaritan's Purse is a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
